This was the party's second Reichsparteitag and its first since refounding, held over two days[1] in the Deutsches Nationaltheater with Hitler present.[2] Seven years earlier the same auditorium had been fitted out as a plenary chamber for the National Assembly; by 1926 it was a theatre again, and the party took it for two days.
Why Weimar was available
The Buchenwald memorial states the practical reason without ornament: Weimar offered the ideal stage, not least because in Thuringia the party could count on the support of the state government of the day.[1] Four years later that same state would hand the party its first ministry. The symbolic reason needs no explaining at all.
The same room, seven years apart
1919 is the year this building is known for, and 1926 happened between the same walls. Both are documented; only one is on the postcards.

On 6 February 1919 the assembly elected to write Germany a constitution met for the first time, in a court theatre eleven years old. Weimar was chosen because Berlin was too dangerous.

On 31 July 1919 the delegates voted Germany's first democratic constitution through in its final form, in the Nationaltheater. It was signed somewhere else entirely.
The constitution was carried in this room in 1919; the party congress was held in it seven years later.
On 23 January 1930 Wilhelm Frick became Thuringia's minister of the interior and of public education — the first National Socialist anywhere in Germany to hold a government office. He lasted fourteen months.
