About KARAT
"Der blaue Planet" came out in 1982: the most successful Amiga LP in the rock and pop catalogue, and the first album by an East German band to go gold in the West. The 2027 tour puts that record back at the centre of the evening. The band had written "König der Welt", "Schwanenkönig" and "Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn" before it, and the promoter promises those too; Claudius Dreilich sings, with Bernd Römer on guitar, Martin Becker on keyboards, Daniel Bätge on bass and Heiko Jung on drums. A touring rock act is usually the least local thing a concert hall does. This one is not, and that is why it is in this guide.

Historical periods
The album at the centre of this tour was the first by an East German band to go gold in the West, which is a GDR story with a West German ending — and in Thuringia it makes this a different evening from the same tour in Munich.
For forty-five years Weimar was a provincial town that the state could not afford to neglect, because the classics it kept were the pedigree East Germany wanted for itself.
