About Jordan Whites »Music for Imaginary Spaces«
The question the project starts from is what music sounds like in spaces that were never built. Jordan White spent two years on it — studying room acoustics, rebuilding reverb algorithms from the 1970s and 80s, constructing his own imaginary rooms in code, and taking the Orthodox church singing of Georgia, Armenia and Byzantium as a foundation. The house promises beautiful brass textures, melodies drawn from church song, and minimalist improvisation. Six players bring it: two trombones, horn, electric guitar, electric bass and drums. Reverb is usually the thing an engineer adds afterwards; here it is the subject.
