About La Tarte
La Tarte is a French bistrot on the Jakobstraße doing what it calls traditional, uncomplicated cooking with a Mediterranean turn, from fresh seasonal ingredients. It opens in the evening only, and there is a courtyard garden behind it for the summer.
A bakery before it was a bistrot
The house tells you what stood here before it: bread and cakes were baked on this spot, and La Tarte took the room over. It is the kind of small continuity that is easy to miss and pleasant to know — a name meaning a tart, in a room that used to turn out the real thing. The building is not otherwise described, and nothing more is claimed for it here.
Evenings only, and the courtyard
This is not a lunch address. Service starts at five in the afternoon and the kitchen closes at ten, with Tuesdays off entirely; the exception is public holidays, when it also opens in the middle of the day. Behind the building there is a courtyard garden the house calls idyllic, worth asking for in summer.
