About Residenz Café & Restaurant

Residenz Café & Restaurant is a coffeehouse on the Grüner Markt keeping café hours in the older sense of the word: a long breakfast card that does not stop at mid-morning, a dish of the day between half past eleven and two, and regional and international cooking around them.

Serving since 1839

Trading since 1839,[1] and calling itself the oldest coffeehouse still running in Weimar. The year stands whether or not the superlative survives scrutiny: a business that opened seven years after Goethe died and has not stopped since has been open through the whole of the Silver Age, through two wars, through the GDR and through everything after.
