About Heute Nacht oder nie

The Comedian Harmonists supplied the sound of the Weimar Republic, as the house puts it. Founded in a Berlin attic in 1928, the sextet had an international breakthrough and then a very short career: in 1935 the three Jewish members were banned from working in Nazi Germany and emigrated. Their repertoire sat between jazz, Schlager and comedy, and it is still part of how those years are remembered — from »Ein Freund, ein guter Freund« to »Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus«. New faces, cheeky arrangements and fresh texts bring the songs and the history back onto the DNT stage.

Historical periods

The house calls this sextet the sound of the Weimar Republic; their career ran from 1928 to the ban of 1935.

Germany's first democracy is named after this town for an almost accidental reason: in 1919 the capital was too dangerous to write a constitution in, and Weimar was quiet.
