About Weiße Rose: Stimmen des Widerstands

Resistance is a large word, and this evening treats it as a question rather than a term: how would you know the moment it became necessary, and what would it ask of you? Seven young adults from Weimar worked that through with two singers from the Thüringer Opernstudio and the duo hashtagmonike. The White Rose is the historical reference point they start from, but nothing is re-enacted. The result is a devised piece made by the people who perform it, with Emanuel Winter at the piano, and it plays at the stellwerk rather than in the theatre. Fifteen and over.

Historical periods

The group the piece starts from was a resistance group of the Nazi years — the era this period covers.

The regime wanted Weimar for what its name meant, and it built a concentration camp on the hill above the town. Both facts belong to the same twelve years.
