Cole Porter's 1948 backstage musical: a divorced pair of actors tear strips off each other in the wings while playing Shakespeare's warring couple out front in The Taming of the Shrew. The joke is that the offstage marriage is by some distance the more violent one. Porter's finest score, and the hit that finally arrived after a decade of near-misses.
