About La Bohème

Puccini's four acts of young poverty in Paris, after Murger's sketches of the Latin Quarter: a garret, a Christmas Eve, and a love affair conducted mostly in the cold. It has been among the most performed operas in the world for over a century, largely because of what the third act does — two couples parting at the same moment, on the same stage, for opposite reasons.
