About Liszt und der Klang Europas
A concert for the Liszt Biennale Thüringen 2027 that places Liszt among the composers who gave Europe's nations their musical voice in his century: his symphonic poem Hungaria, Smetana's Die Moldau, Grieg's first Peer Gynt suite, Berlioz's King Lear overture and Wagner's Tannhäuser overture, played in the Großes Haus by the orchestra of the city where Liszt was court Kapellmeister. The programme is the Spielplan's own; the argument in its title is the theatre's.

Liszt's Weimar years — Hofkapellmeister from 1848 — are the centre of the town's Silver Age.
Goethe died in 1832, and Weimar had to work out what a town does after its golden age. It decided to keep going, and the answer took eighty-six years — the era the Klassik Stiftung Weimar calls the Silver Age. Music replaced literature as the thing Weimar was for, two royal patrons paid for it, and the schools they founded outlived the monarchy that funded them.
