About A Christmas Carol

Christmas is a waste of time as far as Ebenezer Scrooge is concerned, and so are family, friends and anybody else's welfare. He sends the collectors for the poor away without a cent, expects his clerk Bob Cratchit at his desk early on the Christmas days, and refuses his nephew Fred's invitation without thanks. Then the ghost of his dead business partner appears to him at night: Jacoba Marley, a wrecked soul condemned by her own greed and selfishness to walk the world for ever, who warns him that the same fate is waiting and announces three further visits from the other side. In Dickens the partner is Jacob Marley and a man; here she is not, and that is this production's own doing.
