About Der Geisterseher

Schiller left Der Geisterseher a fragment — a prince, a conspiracy and a Sicilian conjuror in Venice — and the DNT turns it into a Stadtkrimi in a version by Robin Ormond and the ensemble: an outdoor tour with headphones that starts at the theatre's box-office hall and takes the story into the streets. It is the rare case of a Schiller you walk through rather than sit in front of.

Historical periods

Schiller's prose, walked through the city he settled in.

For roughly sixty years a duchy of a few thousand people held the centre of German literature, because its ruler kept inviting writers to live there and then gave them jobs. That is the whole mechanism, and it ran from Goethe's arrival in 1775 to his death in 1832.
