Elisabeth has a few days. Her brother Uli means to go west, because he can see no future for himself in the GDR, and she sets out to keep him — in a country whose ideals, as the house puts it, have gone brittle. It is Easter 1961, and what neither of them can know is that the border will close within months. Annelie Korn and Robert Prinzler read it.
