Meyer's 2024 novel runs from the Karl May film sets of the 1960s in Yugoslavia to the wars fought over the same landscape thirty years later, with the German fantasy of the noble Indian chief caught in between. It is enormous, digressive and argues that the stories a country tells itself eventually come back armed.
