Public Dance Days Weimar

For a fortnight in September the Herderplatz becomes a dance floor. A different style every day, most classes running from half past five to seven in the evening, and nothing to pay. The city sets no conditions on who joins — any age, any level of experience — and brings in trainers from across Thuringia and further afield to teach. In a town this careful with its inheritance, an open square given over to something with no historical justification whatsoever is the rarest thing on the calendar.
