23–27 November 2026
For five days in late November the Great Hall of the Weimarhalle is turned into a cinema and the Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste holds its television festival there. What is judged is German-language television film and series — the academy's own television film prize, the German Series Prize, the 3sat audience award, and a film-music prize for composers at the start of their careers. The distinctive part is that the arguing is done in the open: the jury discussions are public, so you can sit and listen to professionals disagree about work you have just watched. Every event is free and open to anyone, which for a festival of this weight is unusual enough to be the reason to go.
