Kunstfest Weimar
27 August – 12 September 2027
Late August into early September
Central Germany's largest festival of contemporary arts, closing the city's summer at the turn from August into September.
Theatre open day
The DNT opens its season with a day-long party across the house — opera gala, One-Minute-Show, new formats.
The next edition has not been announced yet
The Deutsches Nationaltheater throws the whole house open to start its season — the one day in the year when the building is the event rather than anything staged inside it.
The programme keeps its fixtures — the opera gala, the One-Minute-Show — and sets new formats beside them. The house's own Spielplan opens the day outdoors with a Symphonic Mob on the Theaterplatz, which is a fair signal of the register: a state theatre behaving informally for a day, on purpose.
A house of this weight is intimidating from the pavement, and a normal evening there means choosing one production and committing to it. This is a day built for wandering instead — rooms open that are otherwise staff-only, short things rather than long ones, and no need to have decided in advance what you like.
