About Thüringer Schlössertage

Over the Pentecost weekend the Klassik Stiftung opens its palaces and gardens across the region under a theme that changes every year; 2026's is court theatre and the travelling performers who played it. Free activities run alongside ticketed tours into rooms the houses do not otherwise show.

The 2026 theme: travelling players and the court stage

Each year's Schlössertage builds its programme around one motto; 2026's is "Aufgeführt! Fahrendes Volk und höfisches Theater" — performed: travelling folk and court theatre. Free concerts on 23 May, part of the Liedstadt Weimar festival, carry the theme into music as well as tours.

Free stations, ticketed tours

Interactive stations cost nothing: castle-history activities and croquet, an evening get-together, a free rally at Schloss Kochberg, a garden-adventure rucksack trail at Belvedere. The guided tours need a ticket — the poets' rooms in the Stadtschloss, its rediscovered chapel, a short visit to the Wittumspalais, and the Anna Amalia Library's book tower.

Five houses, one region

The Stadtschloss and the Wittumspalais in Weimar, Belvedere on its edge, the Anna Amalia Library, and Schloss Kochberg further into the country — the days link houses that keep separate calendars the rest of the year into one regional programme.
