About Wandertag in Tiefurt
A day of guided walking in the Ilm valley around Tiefurt, with four routes to choose between and culture, landscape and exercise deliberately mixed into each.
Four routes, one starting point
The organisers put on four guided walks rather than one, which is the sensible way to serve families, people who want the exercise and people who want the scenery without them all ending up on the same route. Everything starts and finishes in the same courtyard, so choosing badly costs you nothing.
Tiefurt is the reason to go
The walks circle the village where Anna Amalia kept her summer house, and the Ilm valley here is the gentler, less-photographed end of the landscape the classical court actually used. Walking it is a different proposition from touring the mansion — and on this day the two can be combined.
