Weimarer Zwiebelmarkt
9–11 October 2026
The second weekend in October, every year
Thuringia's oldest and largest folk festival, held on the second weekend of October since 1653.
Thuringian food and specialty market
Two days of regional food and craft on the Theaterplatz, run alongside the potters' market.
The next edition has not been announced yet
Two days on the Theaterplatz given to what Thuringia actually makes: regional specialities and delicatessen, drinks, and hand-made craft. The city sets it deliberately in parallel with the Töpfermarkt on the Marktplatz, so the two markets read as one circuit through the middle of town on the same weekend — food and drink at the theatre end, pottery on the market square. It is a producers' market rather than a festival, which is the reason to go: the stalls are the people who made the things on them.
