Herbstmarkt
14–15 September 2026
Two days in mid-September
Two days on the Marktplatz in mid-September, listed by the market office and by nobody else.
Weimar in brief
One hour, a kilometre and a half, and the outline of the city — the tour to take first, not instead.
Daily at 11:00, about one hour
Weimar rewards knowing roughly what happened here before you start looking at it, and that is precisely what this hour is for. A licensed guide takes a group of no more than twenty-five about a kilometre and a half through the middle of town, laying out the sequence — a small ducal residence, the writers it attracted and why they came, the art school that turned into the Bauhaus, the republic that was declared here and the camp on the hill above. It is deliberately not comprehensive. Think of it as the index rather than the book: an hour that makes the rest of a visit legible, and cheap enough at ten euros that it costs little to find out which parts you actually want to spend a day on.
